Karen and family, please accept my deepest condolences. I worked with him for many years at Poco Petroleums, Burlington Resources and ConocoPhillips. His positive attitude, boundless enthusiasm and smile will be greatly missed.

I would like to offer my sincere condolences on the recent loss of your beloved husband. I wish you well on your future adjustment brought about by this sad event.
Sincerely,
Josette Macdonald
Dear Karen and David …
It was a great pleasure and honour to meet the Shugg family while coaching David as a young teenage soccer player. That was the blessing of volunteer coaching … you’d meet these special families that radiated class, integrity and genuine appreciation. I’m not sure I knew Rob was a fellow geoscientist at the time … but I was captivated by he and Karen’s wonderful commitment to parenting and to their amazing relationship. Here’s to a “real beauty” !!
Dear Karen and Family
So sorry to hear of your loss.
Sincerely, Bev Butler
Dear Karen and family
I was shocked and saddened at Rob’s sudden passing. It was only a few weeks ago since I saw you. Rob, as well you know, was such a strong and upbeat personality – a very special person with a great zest for life. He will be greatly missed. My warmest thoughts and prayers are with you. Ann Bryden-Guimond
It was a great honor to know Rob. He had a bright and shining personality that those around him could not help but be blessed by. Rob will truly be missed by all who knew him.
I was very saddened to hear of Rob’s passing. I worked with Rob while at Burlington and was always so impressed with Rob’s clear and obvious decision to live and celebrate life to the fullest. Intellectually, professionally and personally he was a remarkable man. Whether discussing earth science or the latest advances in MS research his positive attitude, curiosity and that smile where truly inspiring. I wish you strength and peace in this difficult time. We’ve lost a member of our Calgary G&G society and it won’t be the same without him.
Dear Karen,
You looked lovely today. I was drawn to attend Rob’s service because he (and you) have a made a very positive impact on my life. He was always smiling and greeted me warmly. What a delight to have met you both in the late 70’s. Wow. Where does the time go? I wish you well Karen as you work through your grief. Our prayers are with you.
Warm regards, Liam
I was deeply saddened to hear of Rob’s suddendeath. I worked with him at Burlington and Conocophillps for many years. Rob’s professional life was very important to him. He was an extremely capable geophysicist and was always looking for new technical advancements that would enhance/expand our interpretations. We tried to give Rob projects that would be challenging and offer new techniques to look at our geophysical data. Rob never complained about his MS or the challenges it presented him every day. He approached every day with enthusiasm, optimism and never ever let his physical limitations influence his zest for life. I will miss him. He was a good man!
Dear Karen
Very sorry to hear of Rob’s passing. We have lost a good friend and a very fine person.
Dear Karen, Jenn and David

Every human being is unique and some are just more special than others. Rob was one of the special ones. Someone we all looked up to whether at work or in life. We will all miss him but we will always remember him.

My thoughts go out to you Mr. Shug, Pam and Glenn. Heartfelt thoughts also to those family members I have not met. Rob was a great person and will be missed, but not forgotten.
Dear Family;
Please accept my condolenceson the passing of Rob. I worked with Rob for four years at Poco and also later discussed with him his views on how to deal with MS. Always with a smile and very professional Rob will be missed.

Dear family,
How sad it was to read of Rob’s passing. Sailing with him on Skilfish left many memories. Especially that of Rob crawling forward to pull 200 feet of anchor line back into the fore peak. It had been swept overboard in a very rough sea.

I was so saddened to hear of Rob’s passing. Even though I haven’t seen you both in a little while I’ve thought of you all very often. Rob was always so upbeat whenever I saw him.
