Obituary of Loril Redford BOHNE
May 16, 1918 – September 8, 2011
Loril R. Bohne, beloved husband of the late Lorna Bohne, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Bethany Care Centre in Airdrie on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the age of 93 years.
Left to mourn are his children, George (Maureen) Bohne of Raymond, AB, Terry (Andy) Fedorchuk of Manning, AB, Margaret (Bob) Hall of Wolseley, SK, Karen Moore (Paul Scott) of Red Deer, AB, Marvin Bohne of Milk River, AB, and Cindy (Richard) Heine of Airdrie, AB. Loril is also survived by twenty-four grandchildren; fifty-one great-grandchildren; and a sister Shirley Orr of Fort Mcleod, AB. He was predeceased by his parents Abner and Nettie; a sister Retta Woodruff; and three brothers, Owen, John and Boyd.
Loril was born and raised in Glenwood, AB and was one of the first from Southern Alberta to volunteer for service in the Canadian Army during World War II. While stationed in Nanaimo, BC, he met his sweetheart Lorna whom he married and they spent fifty-seven years together. Loril served in England, France and Holland. He returned to farming in Glenwood until 1965 when the family moved to Calgary, AB. He retired from working for the City of Calgary in 1983. After selling their home in Calgary in 1998 they moved to the Crossfield Lodge. After Lorna’s passing, Loril’s final years were spent at the Bethany Care Centre.
A Memorial Service will be held in Loril’s honour at the Bethany Care Centre (1736 – 1 Avenue N.W., Airdrie) on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. You may forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
