Obituary of Sharon Gayle REINHARDT
February 18, 1949 – September 5, 2011
Sharon Gayle Reinhardt passed away peacefully on Monday morning (September 5, 2011) at the age of 62 years, after a challenging battle with breast cancer.
Calling Calgary home since 1956, Sharon attended Henry Wise Wood High School and then pursued post-secondary education at both Red Deer College and the University of Lethbridge (Bachelor of Education). She taught in various Alberta towns until 1986, when she returned to Calgary and shifted her professional path toward customer service. When she stopped working, she was well-liked and thriving at Telus Communications as a Wireless Loyalty representative and also as a Shop Steward for the Telecommunications Worker’s Union.
Although she enjoyed both her vocational choices, her real calling was to motherhood. She had only one child of her own (her “Special Angel” Lisa, to whom she was everlastingly devoted) but her motherly instincts ensured that everyone she met always had somewhere to spend the holidays, someone to play cards with and someone to call for advice or company when life became difficult.
Sharon made devoted, lifelong friends, was a voracious reader and music lover and inspired everyone she met to aspire to their best. Those who knew her well understand why her favourite quote was “I see the world the way I want it to be, not the way it really is!” and will remember the way she wanted it to be; full of music, full of happiness and, most of all, full of love. Her tenacity and joyful spirit will be sorely missed.
Sharon is survived by her daughter Lisa; brother Frank (Tannis); sisters, Noelle (Wendy) Hoffart, Holly McLachlin and Cherrie (Dave) Derksen; and her beloved cat Skittle. She was predeceased by her parents Frank (1972) and Nesta (1985).
