Obituary of HYDE – Teresa Irene

June 4, 1928 – September 3, 2011 It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Teresa Irene Hyde on Saturday, September 3, 2011, at the age of 83 years. The youngest of seven children, Teresa spent her early years in the Vancouver area, graduating from St. Ann’s Academy in New Westminster and later working as a court stenographer. Teresa married Shawn Hyde in 1952 and they resided in Victoria and Vancouver before moving to Calgary in 1962. After staying at home for seventeen years to raise her four children, Teresa started working for the Bank of Nova Scotia before joining St. Francis High School where she worked for twenty years as head secretary. In retirement Teresa and Shawn took up golf, eventually joining Elbow Springs Golf Club. Already an accomplished bridge player, she pursued duplicate bridge with passion. She claimed no fame in either activity, but made many wonderful friends along the way. Family and friends were always her priority and she took great pleasure in the success of her children. Although Teresa’s health started to fail this past summer, it was only the last few weeks that she started to slow down. There was never any grass growing under Teresa’s feet. Her capacity to persevere was unlimited. Predeceased by her husband Shawn, Teresa will be dearly missed by her children, Sean (Wendy), Colleen (Allan), Erin (Peter) and Tim (Audra), as well as her grandchildren Sean, Heather, Delaney and Mari, and her many cherished friends. A Celebration of life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
