Obituary of BREAKELL – Robert Bernard FCA
May 22, 1932– September 1, 2011
Robert “Bob” Breakell was born in Calgary on May 22, 1932, and passed away peacefully in Calgary on Friday, September 1, 2011 with his family at his side.
He was predeceased by his parents Gordon and Gladys, and brother Ronald. Bob is survived by the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Maxine; son Robert, wife Cyndy, and their sons Kyle and Evan, all of Brooks; and son Mark of Calgary. Bob became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta in 1964. He was appointed to the CICA Impact Committee and was awarded the prestigious designation of FCA in 1998. The enthusiasm for volunteer work was always a part of Bob’s life. He was instrumental in bringing football to Brooks in 1978. He served as President of the Medicine Hat Junior Chamber of Commerce, and the Brooks and District Chamber of Commerce. Bob was treasurer and co-chair of the Friends of the Royal Tyrell Museum of Palaeontology. Bob was appointed to the U of C Senate in the role of Inquires Committee Vice Chair.
As part of Bob’s wishes, there will be a Graveside Service at ST. MARGARET’S CHURCH & CEMETERY EAGLE BUTTE, Cypress Hills, Township Road 74 at Eagle Butte Road south of Dunmore, on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. David J. Carter officiating.
