Obituary of van BOVEN

December 16, 1915 – August 26, 2011 Ilma van Boven passed away peacefully on Friday, August 26, 2011 at the age of 95 years. Ilma was born in Toronto to Gordon Dunfield and Mildred McBride Dunfield. She married Fred van Boven in 1938 and moved to Montreal. Upon retirement they came to Calgary to be near family. Ilma was predeceased by Fred in 1996 after fifty-eight years of marriage. She will be dearly remembered and missed by her daughter Joan Loraas (Don); granddaughter Suzanne Oswald (Ben); grandson Scott Loraas (Erin); great-grandchildren Aidan and Zoë Oswald; and two brothers John Dunfield (Elly) and Peter Dunfield (Sonja). Ilma was a member of Timothy Eaton Memorial Church (Toronto) and Montreal West United Church. In Calgary she was an active member of St. Andrew’s United Church. She had an engaging personality and will be well remembered for her kindness to others, positive nature and spontaneous and frequent laughter. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Beverly Centre for their loving care. A private family memorial will take place at a later date.
