Obituary of MUTH – Rodney Brian

September 21,1953 – August 21, 2011 On Sunday, August 21, 2011, we suddenly and sadly lost our favorite guy, dad, and husband, Rodney Brian Muth. Rod was born in Lloydminster (the SK side) on September 21, 1953, the eldest of seven boys born to Bernice and Walter Muth. He spent many summers working on family farms before moving to Saskatoon to attend engineering at the U of S. It was there, during a Snow Golf tournament dance, that he met the love of his life, Sally. After graduating in 1980, Rod worked in Aberdeen before returning home to Saskatoon to claim his bride. Sally and Rod were married on May 1, 1982 and shortly after moved to Calgary to pursue a career in the oil industry. He was well respected and passionate about his work, spending the last eleven years with Calfrac Well Services. They were blessed with two beautiful girls, Lauren and Casey. Rod said that his girls were the best thing he ever did. Rod and Sally felt fortunate to be able to travel with their girls, especially to his favorite place on earth- Sao Lourenco, Santa Maria, Azores (his island). It was there he spent the last few weeks of his life. Rod is survived by his beloved girls: his wife, Sally, and their daughters, Lauren and Casey (Scott); his mother, Bernice; his brothers: Richard (Colleen), Duane (Tracy), Calvin (Heather), and Gerry (Carmen). He will be lovingly remembered by his sister in law, Patty (Colin), brothers in law, Tony (Diane) and Jorge (Katie), numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and too many friends to count. Rod was predeceased by his father, Walter, brothers Greg and Kenneth, and his in-laws, Maria and Victor Puim. Hope they serve dobla vodkas in heaven. Salute! Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute in appreciation for his brother Duane’s new heart. In living memory of Rod Muth, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Telephone: (403)243-8200.
