My heartfelt condolences to you. Although I never had the privilege of meeting him, all I have read and heard about him (e. e., from the Andre Tangelders) indicates that he was a most exceptional gentleman as well as loving husband and father. May you be comforted and blessed every time you think back to all the good times you shared.
Most sincerely,
Warren Goldmann
(Friend and distant relative of Andre Tangelder, of Tehachapi, CA, and Rochester, NY)
Dear Olga and family:
I was shocked and saddened to see the story of Gary’s passing on the CTV evening news with Steve Murphy. I first met Gary when he was a “teen idol” on CJRW Summerside. He was the talk of the town, especially among the teen set. I was a very young newspaper reporter who had dreams of getting into radio, and Gary was my role model. He went on to big things in Saint John, and over the years, we lost touch. But I never forgot him, his cool look, his smooth style, all of the broadcasting attributes I wanted to be.
He was a true professional, and I know you will miss him terribly. Sincerely Mike Duffy
Dear Olga, Allison and Phillips family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

Dearest Olga and Ali, We are so shocked and very saddened to hear about Gary’s death. Our prayers and thoughts are with you in the difficult days to come. My (Sue’s) fondest memory of Gary was “doing the bump” with him at my 40th birthday celebration at the Rec Centre. Gary truly embraced life.
Sue, Dan, Amanda and Chris Hope
Olga & Alison, Gary talked about you constantly when I worked with him at QR77. On those rare occasions when we were on another topic, he was either laughing or making me laugh. He was the first friend I made at the station and he quickly became one of my favourite people. I never took him up on it, but he always me offered something from his lunch. Always. Even if I was eating my own lunch right in front of him. What a great guy. I’ll miss him. My condolences. – Jesse
We met Gary having coffee at Tim Horton’s, a few years back. We will miss his friendly smile and warm invitation to join him for coffee. Thinking of you.
To Olga & family, plus the Phillips in Saint John.
I knew Gary through high school when we moved to Champlain Heights. There were just a few of us in our teens at first & he was a good friend to all. We have all been in various places & never reconnected. I feel so sad about that. I’ll always remember him fondly. My deepest condolences.
Sincerely, Elyzabeth Webb
So shocked to hear of Gary’s passing. My heartfelt condolences Olga & Ali and family.
Gary loved a good joke – whether telling one or hearing one and I’ll always remember the twinkle in his eye and his tears-to-the-eyes laughter at a good one. Family was everything to Gary. Whenever we talked, no matter the topic, his family somehow made it into the conversation – with sincerity and reverence. Gary also had a passion for the news profession. He was always a class-act, a good man, and a good friend.

Dear Olga and Alison, I’m so very sorry to hear about Gary’s passing. I worked with Gary at CFBC many years ago. I was very new to the business and I always appreciated Gary’s kindness showing a new kid the ropes. It was great to hear his stories and enjoy his friendship during those small coffee visits. I know he loved his family and talked of the two of you lots in those times. Kindest Regards, Charlie Brown
I extend my heartfelt sympathies to Olga, Alison, Jason and all the other members of the family. My memories are of a time spent many moons ago here in N.B. The parties, the cars, the dances, the sports car club, the girls, the fort, night parties on the beach, the apt, rallies, Gary A-Go-Go, the mustang, the parties, the vette, Wentworth St parties Riv, Randys, the Vic and McEwans, and oh yes, did I mention the Parties ?
Rest well my long lost friend.
Dave
Olga and Alison.
I was so sad and shocked to see Gary’s obituary in the paper this morning. He was such a wonderful man and helped me tremendously when I was first starting out in radio at CFAC. I will never forget the fun and mess we had chasing pigs at one particular promotion for the station. We were wearing all white and ended up all black! Our thoughts and prayers are with you right now. Sorry I can not attend Gary’s memorial service on Wednesday as I am preparing for a funeral at Sacred Heart Church the same morning. Gary maybe “gone” from this earth, but I for one will carry his memory with me forever. God Bless.
At this time of loss, may you find comfort in happy memories. My thoughts are with you and Alison.
Michelle

Even though I have not seen or talked to Gary for many, many years, I am still saddened to hear of his death. There was a time when we were good friends…he and his family lived just down the street from my family in Champlain Heights, Saint John. Gary and I travelled the school bus together and actually shared a double desk in Grade Ten. We also used to dance together on occasion! I know his cousin, Diane Duvar, and was with her on Saturday. Gary crossed my mind and I intended to ask her about him, but never got the opportunity. Little did I know that I would have news about him so soon. Please accept my condolences on your loss…I have very fond memories of him. Gayle (Perkins) Janes, Amherst, Nova Scotia
Dear Olga and Ali, our hearts go out to you, please accept our prayers and sympathy. Gary was a wonderful man, and we were blessed to have known him. love Luba and Merl
It came as a shock to read that Gary had passed. I recall the many times he came to Canmore to assist at CFHC – teaching and supporting the newer broadcasters and how he would spend the time passing on his skills. Also fondly recall working at CFAC with Gary and learning the business as he offered advice and shared some of his knowledge. He would also take the time to speak lovingly of his family. I have nice memories of Gary and Olga opening their home to us ‘visitors from the mountains’ whenever we would be in the city. Till we meet again, there are pictures and memories. Rest in Peace.
Rob Tyson
Olga,
I feel so fortunate to have known Gary well; shared a few laughs and a few “pops” along the way. What struck me most about Gary was his passion and commitment to his family, his un-ending knowledge of music and is ability to discuss the details of flight.
He will not be forgotten and will be sorely missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and Alison.
Doug
A loving brother who will be missed by all his family and friends. Our thoughts are with Olga, Ali and Jason at this time.
All our love,
Alan and Marthe-Elise
