Condolences
Dear Garth, Brenda and Alex. I was searching for the names of some of my old colleagues at West Island College, when I came across the tragic news of Evann’s passing. I had the distinct pleasure of teaching Evann and coaching her in volleyball. She had such passion for all of her pursuits and she had an incredible exuberance about her; she truly had a joy for life which made the world’s of those around her so much richer. She will be deeply missed never forgotten.
Chester Dobni
Walter, please accept my deepest sympathy. I was so sorry to hear of your loss.
Garth, Brenda and Alex,
I did not have the pleasure to meet Evann but I could see, during the time I was at Petro-Canada, that Garth was very involved and interested in the accomplishments of his family. I learned of your terrible loss just today and though I hope some of your pain has lessened, please know that our thoughts are with you. I was extremely sorry to hear of your loss, and what you have been going through.
Garth and Brenda, we are so sorry for your loss. We too were not in town and just learned of your terrible news today. We are heartbroken for the both of you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Brenda, Garth and Alex,
My family and I are out of the city so we didn’t hear about this news until now. I am so sorry for your loss; honestly hearing this was heartbreaking news. In the time I got to know Evan I knew immediately she was a special amazing girl that anyone would be lucky to have gotten to know. I pass onto you all as much strength as I possibly can and my family and I’s thoughts are prayers are with you and Evan constantly. We can all be grateful that we have one beautiful angel watching over us in heaven.
Mason Family
Please accept our sincere sympathy at the passing of your beautiful daughter, Evann. You don’t know us but our son died on July 19, 2011 and was a 2009 graduate of Mercyhurst College and was on the wrestling team there until he sustained a career-ending injury. His name was Rich Froats and was a handsome and intelligent guy as well. We as a family understand completely your devastation at the loss of such a young person with some much potential to add to this world. We have a strong faith in Jesus as well and praise Him for everything, but we just wish our son could have been with us much longer than his almost 25 years. I imagine you folks feel the same about Evann. Take care and please know we identify with your extreme pain. Love, Bernadette Froats (mother of Rich).
Garth, Brenda and Alex
I am so sorry to hear about Evann’s passing. I want to pass on my sincerest condolences. I will never forget that amazing smile and her wonderful sense of humor. My thoughts and prayers are with you all..
God Bless you all.

To Evann’s family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. The only condolence I can give you is knowing what a great person you helped your daughter grow into. I knew Evann from Mercyhurst. Evann always brought a smile to my face – there are not words to describe what a great girl she was. She will be missed greatly.
Dear Brenda, Garth and Alex

Alex,
I am so, so sorry to hear about the passing of your sister. Both you and Evann were students that teachers always remember…students that teachers are so grateful to have around. Dear Garth,
Whenever we had opportunity to speak of our personal lives, you only spoke of your daughters, and always with such love and pride and devotion. I know they are, and always will be, your world. To you, and Brenda, and Alex, our most heartfelt and sincere condolences.

Dear Parker family,
I wanted to write to express my heartfelt sadness and sincere condolences for your devastating loss. Although I did not have the opportunity to teach Evann while she was at WIC, I was fortunate to know her through her involvement outside of the classroom in various activities. Evann was an integral part of the WIC community and her graduating class. Her spunk, sense of humor and drive for excellence were a wonderful addition to our school.
I am so very sorry and terribly sad and wish that I could be there to help celebrate her life this afternoon. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and all of Evann’s friends.
Trina Clarke

Dear Brenda, Garth & Alex:
I was so saddened and shocked to read of your daughter Evann’s passing. All of her achievements were simply remarkable. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this extremely difficult time. God Bless.

Dear Brenda, Garth and Alex;
It is with great shock and deep sorrow to hear of Evann’s battle and your loss. Your young lady was truly one of those extraordinary people we are occasionally blessed with meeting. Any time she came to mind, always remembered first among many others, a round of golf she played with Kaitlin in Sundre, her get at it, get it done and don‘t waste any time attitude (not quite the phrase that came to mind but I think you know what I mean) combined with her sassy wit. She was such a gifted athlete with a truly beautiful spirit and the most incredible smile and her devotion as a daughter and sister was so evident . She has done you proud to have touched so many people in such a short time. I pray that you all find peace and beautiful memories to carry you through these tragic times.
Jenny, Kevin and Kaitlin Allan
Brenda, Garth and Alex,
I’m deeply saddened to hear of Evann’s passing, and I’m sorry that I couldn’t attend her memorial today.
Evann had a gift, though I imagine you know that better than all of us. She could always be counted on to make things fun, silly or frustrating for me as her coach, but it was always with her trademark sarcasm, bright eyes and mischievous smile. She’d have me pulling my hair out one minute and rolling on the ground laughing the next. She left an impression on me that I’ll never forget, and I feel fortunate to have been able to spend time with her on and off the ski hill as a coach and friend.
Aaron

Brenda and Garth, it was with shock that we learned about Evann. We are both extremely saddened by the news and and feel for your family. Parents should not have to deal with the passing of a child and we wish you both strength in this time. We talked about the time that we went skiing with your family at New Years and will remember Evann as the outgoing active child we stayed with at Douglas Fur Lodge skiing in the day and playing on the waterside.
Take care, John
I first met Evann on a golf course in Erie where she was playing in a match against my daughter Kelly. She was so full of fun, but you could see she had a drive to win. Kelly always looked forward to her matches with Evann. She always said she had the most fun during those rounds. We said many prayers hoping she would beat this, and it seems she gave it her best. Kelly and I were so saddened to hear of her passing. We will continue to keep you guys in our prayers.
Garth- my sincerest sympathies on your loss- life can be so unfair. Thinking of you and your family.
Brenda & Family:
I would like to express my sincerest sympathy to you and your family at this difficult time.
Garth, Brenda and Alex,
There are no words…we are are devastated and saddened to hear of the loss of your beautiful daughter/sister, Evann. We want you to know how much we are thinking of you all over these last few very painful days. Evann’s smile made you feel good, and we were all envious of her talent on the golf course! We have been remembering all the fun we had as a family walking with the Parkers watching Scott and Tanner playing “head to head” with Alex and Evann in those early years of golf. The boys were quick to remember that the girls beat them! We will always remember Evann’s competitive spirit and how much she accomplished athletically and academically in her much too short life. Please know we send you our love and strengh at this difficult time.
Take care, We care,
Ron, Shona,Scott and Mitchell Lowe
Dear Garth and Brenda,
Your heartbreak is unimaginable and I can only offer my sympathy and condolences. Our youngest son, Thomas, is the same age, and it is almost incomprehensible to think of losing a child at such a young age, when they are full of so much vitality, so much fun, with their eyes wide open and and wishing to experience life to its fullest.
And yet I can see that Evann did relish and enjoy all life had to offer her and she was further comforted by a loving family and parents who had the most profound love, honour and respect for their child.
Sincerely,
Ed and Catherine Bruton
Dear Garth, Brenda and Alex
We are so very sorry to hear about Evann’s battle with leukemia and about her passing. We remember Evann from the times over a few years that she played up for our daughter Erin Elphinstone’s team, that we helped coach. She was a great player, not afraid to play up with the older girls, and a nice kid and this is such sad news. We feel so much for you all, in this great loss.
We thought we should let others in the Rangers organization know and thought we would pass on to you the emails we received back from some of the coaches, that tell of the positive impact Evann had on coaches, players and Rangers as a whole. Ellen, Dave and Erin

There are very few special players that come around in one’s coaching career. Evann, was in that class of a select few. She was highly athletic, strong, and competitive. She had such natural ability (“something no one can teach…you either have it, or you don’t”), and at times (at PDP sessions) it would feel (like a thoroughbred waiting to explode out of the gate in a high stakes race and do it’s thing) we were holding her back so the others could catch up.
A very sad loss for the Parker family and Rangers Soccer club indeed, and may Evann’s memory live in all of us that were so fortunate to be part of her life and admire her.

Hi all,
Yes very sad. Evann has been playing in the Div 3 Rangers womens team with her sister Alex these past few seasons. This year she hadn’t been able to join the team on the field, but had been out cheering on and supporting the team. Many of the Rangers players are planning to attend the celebration on Monday to support the family. As Ellen said, a very nice girl, and a sad loss.

Subject: sad news about Evann Parker
Hello former Rangers Coaches
We noticed a very sad announcement today in the Calgary Herald. Evann Parker, who was a year younger than Erin and played up for her team a number of times over the years when we were helping coach, has passed away due to leukemia. She was a great player and a nice kid and this is such sad news. Evann played 16 years with the Rangers and we thought we should pass on this information for those of you who might remember her and ask that you get in touch with her coaches if you remember who they were as I am not sure (Theresa, I am guessing you might know).
It is so sad for someone so young to have battled cancer and to have lost and such a devastating loss to her family and friends. You can find the announcement on line at the Calgary Herald or in today’s paper
Ellen, Dave and Erin
My deepest sympathies go out to Evann’s family. While I knew her as teacher & coach I saw how everyone around her benefited from her positive and tenacious attitude. She will be missed greatly.
Dearest Brenda
I am so sorry. Thinking of you all. Love Karen
Dearest Brenda, Garth and Alex,
We are deeply saddened to hear the devastating news about Evann. Clearly, everyone that knew her thought the world of her and she will be remembered dearly by all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sorrowful time.
With our love and sympathy,
Doug, Claudia, Juliana, Bobby and Chris
Dear Garth, Brenda, and Alex:
I am sorry this is coming to you on paper, rather than in person. If I had my preference I would much rather be showing support in person especially as tomorrow (Monday) unfolds.
There is no way to outwardly express the profound sense of sadness, anguish, sorrow, and overwhelming loss I know you are going through – and to a degree shared by others whose lives Evann’s touched, including mine. Only time will ease, overwriting grief with fond memories and full hearts. Yet to wish to be at that point, fast forwarding through the seemingly endless barren days and months to come is to squander what you and Evann have already held in the highest regard: time itself. I wish I could “wish” the pain and sorrow away from you and from the rest of us. I wish I could “wish” Evann to be back among us and her leukemia gone. But most of all I wish for the three of you to find comfort and strength from each other and to gain the sunshine that always lives behind even the darkest clouds. You have my deepest sympathy.
Brenda & Family:
We are so sorry for your devastating loss.
With deepest sympathy,
Ross & Sherri

We are so deeply saddened and shocked to hear of Evann’s passing .The loss of a child and a sister is an anguish no one should have to endure. We knew Evann through Alex and skiing circles. Evann was the one who was going to show the world a thing or two at the Whistler Cup. Such confidence and such a smile.May the strength and memories you hold within help you now and in the future .
In deepest sympathy,

Dear Brenda and Garth
We are so sad to hear of your devastating loss. There are no words to offer other than that our hearts and prayers are with you. It is so brutally unfair and heartbreaking. May you find the courage and strength to see you thru and take comfort in her beautiful legacy.

To the Parker family,
I am so deeply saddened to hear of Evann’s passing. I only knew of Evann. My daughter, Kiersten, met Evann a few years back through the CJGA at the Canada Cup. They met up again in their university days as Kiersten attends Gannon University in Erie, PA. They were only ever opponents when it came to golf.
I was shocked when Kiersten told me in the New Year of Evann’s illness and to hear that she succumbed to this horrible disease so very quickly is heart wrenching.
From all I have heard of Evann, she was a wonderful person and accomplished so much in her short life.
I can not even begin to imagine the pain and anguish you must all be feeling. Take comfort in the fact that she is no longer suffering.
Our thoughts and prayers are with at this most difficult time. A young life taken from us far too soon.
The Klekner-Alt Family

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Evann will be sorely missed, please accept our deepest condolences.

Dearest Brenda, Garth and Alex,
We were shocked and devastated in hearing about your tragic loss! We remember Evann as the most delightful little girl back in our old neighbourhood. The kids had many fun times playing together. We cannot imagine your sorrow and wish to express our deepest feelings of sympathy and condolences. You are in our hearts and thoughts and may the memory of Evann keep you forever strong.
With love and sorrow,

While it’s difficult to find adequate words to express the sorrow that everyone shares over this sad news, it’s easy to find words to thank you for bringing Evann (and Alex) to West Island College where we got to know her radiant smile, her tenacious engagement in learning, her ready wit and delightful sense of humour. Great courage and strength to the family in this most difficult of times. Ken McCaffery

Dear Brenda, Garth, Alex, Walter, Melanie and extended family
I was shocked and horrified to hear about Evann’s illness, and now how fast this illness has taken her! I cannot imagine her battle or yours over the last number of months. It has been awhile now since we have spent all those hours on the ski hill watching and supporting our children in their ski racing adventures. May those wonderful moments from the past provide you with some happy memories to hang onto during this time of heavy grief. Please know how heavy all of our hearts are as we think of the loss of your talented and beautiful daughter. All of us (Sean, Suzanne and I) are thinking of you. May you take strength in all the words from your friends and the ski community! Vanita
Parker Family,
Wow – hardly seems true and I cannot express how saddened I am for your loss, the world’s loss….
Evann was one of a kind….she had something about her that struck a cord with me. I wrote her some time ago telling her I named my daughter after her and why I did.
When I coached at Fortress her personality, stubbornness, eagerness and determination imprinted on my heart. When people ask how I came up with the name Evynne for my daughter I would always start by saying “there was this girl I coached a few times that was fun, spunky, determined and hilariously witty, she just had something about her….I envisioned my daughter to be like that and I felt the name was fitting of the description for all I wanted my girl to be empowered with. And I loved the name itself.”
I can honestly say that not a day goes by that I didn’t think of your Evann because of this and always will. I have told the story of “the name” so many times!!
She really was a fab kid….you must be so proud…
<3
We are so so sorry for your loss. We both were lucky to play soccer with Evann through the Rangers club. She was such a talented player.
Our deepest sympathies,

Our hearts and prayers are with you all and could only hope that the memory of her strength and spirit keeps you strong.

We were so sorry to hear of the passing of Evann. When we first heard of her illness, we hoped for the best possible outcome for Evann and the family. Having young adults of the same age makes us realize how fragile life can be and we are deeply saddened by the loss of your beautiful and extremly talented daughter.
We are travelling to Europe so we won’t be able to attend the Celebration of Evann’s Life but we wanted you to know you are in our thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.
Sincerly
Bob and Michele Michaleski
Garth and Brenda,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Although I didn’t know Evann, and we’ve lost touch through the years, my heart aches for you and your family. It’s funny though…most times when I think of my sons, Johnston & Duncan, I think of Alex and Evann, since we had both of our pregnancies so close together. I just wanted you to know I was thinking of you!
Take care,
Sharon Crawford
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Parker, and Alex,
I am so very very sorry for your loss. I knew Evann through my role as a teacher at West Island College, and I remember her as a sunny, smiling child who grew into a sunny, smiling young woman. She had a reputation as an excellent athelete with a positive attitude, a love of fun, and a generous spirit throughout her six years at the the school.
I know her many friends will miss her dearly, and I can’t imagine how hard this is for you. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you through this time, and into the years ahead.
Sincerely, Pip Webb-Briscoe
Dear Garth, Brenda & Alex:
My thoughts are with you all and I pray God cloaks you in his strength and love.

Garth and Brenda, we are so sorry to hear of the passing of your beautiful and talented daughter, Evann. There are no words that can express how sorry we are to hear of your loss. Our prayers are with you.
I am so sad for you and the loss of such a special life in the world. I am not sure what to say….I feel empty and cannot even pretend to imagine what you are feeling and going through. She fought with such a good attitude and never stopped making me laugh with her texts and replies to the pictures I was sending her. Tucker will be lost without her and I want you to know he is loved like my own and ALWAYS has a place with us for how ever long you wanted or needed. I know she would be happy to know he is enjoying himself and so loved. Everyone at K9to5 will miss her and she always made the dogs so happy and our clients happy to know their beoloved dogs were in her care. All my love and condolences
Alex, Brenda, and Garth,
Our thoughts and sympathy are with you; no words to describe the incredible loss you are experiencing. Evann’s life was so so short, though she certainly succeeded with more challenges and accomplishments than most, and such a beautiful and bright young woman! Take care of yourselves, and each other, as you progress through the difficult stages of adjusting to the void that is now in your lives; you will carry on with her spirit and memories close by.
Thinking of you,
Terra, Deirdre, Barb and Dan
We would like to offer our sincere condolences in the loss of your beloved daughter Evann. We have been following her progress throughout her illness through Andrea. Our daughter Alex played soccer with Evann many years ago with the Rangers. We remember her as a feisty competiitor. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers,
To Garth and your family during this difficult time, I send my sincere condolences and thoughts.
Dearest Brenda, Garth and Alex,
We are so terribly sad to hear about Evann. What a bright light she was for all of you, and as you said, a “team-mate” for Alex in every sense of the word. I always enjoyed competing with her on the golf course, accompanied by her faithful caddy, Grandpa Walter, as well as supportive Dad always present to cheer her on. I always marvelled at her long, effortless drives that would leave us in her dust. We will all miss your bright, beautiful daughter and know, that you are always in our prayers.
Deirdre
Dear Garth, Brenda and Alex,
Such sadness. Evann accomplished so much and touched many but passed so soon. I know you will hold her tight in your hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Drew, Gordon and Andrew
Brenda, Garth, Alex my sincere condolences. So very sorry to hear of Evann’s death. It is easy for me to remember that there always seemed to be a smile on Evann’s face, be it just a happy one or on occasion a more mischevious one. It is such a very sad day to know the lovely smile and the personality it embodied is no longer.
So sorry for your loss.
Ross Van Patter
Garth, Brenda, I am so so sorry for your terrible loss. I know how loved and proud of Evann you were – it shone through so clearly every time you spoke of her and Alex.

OMG….Brenda, Garth & Alex,
We knew Evann was battling this wretched disease and we’re so sorry to hear this tragic news. Evann was such a sweetheart, especially as we knew her as the gal who steamrolled down many a ski race course often with a podium finish!! We have no doubt that she tackled this disease with that same determination and courage and you must be very proud of the exceptional young lady you raised. Evann’s absence will be “huge” in her many circles of friends to be sure. Please be gentle and kind with each other as you try to cope with your grief during this unbelievably difficult time. Our hearts go out to you guys and we wish you didn’t have to endure such pain.
Dear Brenda, Garth, and Alex

Dear Brenda and Garth,
Our deepest condolences, I know Evann is in good hands now and I will always remember her in my heart and she will always be a part of me because I have some of her old clothes that I wear. I really regretted of not seeing her when she was sick but I always pray for her. Again please accept our condolences.
Dear Brenda, Garth and Alex
We cannot imagine the sadness that you must all be experiencing now. None of us can truly say we know how you are feeling at this point. Words are not sufficient to convey how sorry we are at your loss. Losing a sibling is devastating. Losing a child is absolutely a parents worst nightmare. Of all the families that we met while involved in the ski world, your kids were among the most grounded and you were among the hardest working. We always had so much respect for you all. We are truly and deeply so very sorry. The Holinski Family
