Obituary of BOREIKO – Mirdza

Mirdza Boreiko of Calgary, passed away on Monday August 15, 2011. Mirdza was born in Kharkov and was raised in Jelgava, Latvia. During World War II she married Vladislavs and later they escaped to Germany. Eventually, the family had the opportunity to emigrate to Canada. Following the death of her husband she upgraded her qualifications, then returned to full time employment in order to support her family. Mirdza was a generous person who will always be remembered for her love of family, gardening, handicrafts and her appreciation of nature. Mirdza is survived by one son Romy (Marion) Boreiko, two daughters Laura (Michael) Browne and Rita (Albert) Betz, six grandchildren Andrew, Kenley and Stuart Browne, Robin, Kerry and Heather Betz. She is also survived by other relatives in Canada, Australia and Latvia. She was predeceased by her husband Vladislavs, her parents and siblings. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at HOLY TRINITY CATHOLIC CHURCH 1525 – 45th Street S.E. on Friday, August 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
