Obituary of MILNER- Hance Ashley

June 25, 1936 – August 14, 2011 Hance Milner, beloved husband of Ellen Rawleigh of Calgary, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, on August 14, 2011 at the age of 75 years following a short battle with cancer. Hance grew up in Nova Scotia, and joined the military as a young man. While posted in Edmonton, he met Dahline Kandt and started his first family. After leaving the military, he began a second very successful career with New York Life. Hance was active in the community, especially as a member of the Eastport Lions Club. Hance and Ellen met through the Lions Club, and began their happy journey of twenty-five years. He held many esteemed positions like Lions District Governor (37E), and Calgary Police Commissionaire. Hance will be missed by Ellen; their children Colleen, Darryl, Gerri, Eldon, Patti, Robert, Keith, Lori; and their families. He was predeceased by son-in-law Larry Barton, grandson Daryl, and first wife Dahline. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, August 19, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. A Private Interment Service will be held at Rocky View Garden of Peace at a later date. In memory of Hance Milner, his kids will place a stepping stone in the Ranche Historic Gardens at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
