Obituary of SCHAMP – Gratien L

October 29, 1918– August 13, 2011 Gratien (Slim) Schamp passed away quietly after a brief illness on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the age of 92. Slim was born in St. Alphonse, Manitoba the eldest son of Jan and Augusta Schamp. He married Mildred Moore in 1945 and they had two children, Maureen and Wayne. Slim retired from the Calgary School Board after 25 years of employment with them. Slim is sadly missed by his daughter Maureen Light of Rocky Mtn. House, Wayne (Kathryn) Schamp of Calgary; four grandchildren, Laura, Darren(Jennifer), Jason(Rena) and Kenneth(Sarah); six great-grandchildren and his special friend Ruth Klap. Slim will also be missed by brothers Roman, Tony and Roger; sisters Mary Jane and Marie all of Manitoba. Slim was predeceased by his parents, sister Annie and wife of 48 years, Mildred. Funeral Services will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home (17 Avenue and Garden Rd. S.E.) on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with graveside service to follow.
