Obituary of Robert Norman TERNES

June 21, 1937 – August 12, 2011 It is with heavy hearts the family of Robert Norman Ternes announce the passing of their beloved husband, father and papa on Friday, August 12, 2011 at the age of 74 years. After a tremendously courageous, three-year battle with cancer, Bob peacefully passed away in Calgary with his family by his side and holding his once strong hands. Bob is survived by the love of his life, Audrey Ternes and their three children, Brad (Cathy), Darcy (Karen) and Tara (Tami). “Papa” is also survived by his six grandchildren, Tina, Amanda, Chrissy, Amy, Jenna, and Kaden; as well as his five great-grandchildren, Trinity, Jaiden, Rylan, Brynlee, and Shelby. Nothing gave Papa more joy than teasing his grandchildren and watching them giggle and squirm in response. Bob was predeceased by his parents Mike and Philomena as well as his two sisters, Annie and Edna. Second to the joy his family brought was Bob’s love for the rural community in Beiseker and surrounding area. He was an avid community member who, over the years, was involved with coaching baseball and hockey and was engaged in activities with St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 4H, the Lion’s Club and the Knights of Columbus. Bob’s commitment to the growth of the community was consistently present in everything he did. Bob kept us all on our toes. He was a master of practical jokes and in engaging his buddies into friendly bets, which he always knew would have him coming out on top. He was a source of wisdom and unwavering guidance. He was always there with a solution, often the engineer seeing things from a whole different perspective. Without question, his family will miss their opportunities to call to say, “Hey dad, what do you think?” Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (434 2nd Avenue, Beiseker, AB) on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (434 2nd Avenue, Beiseker, AB) on Friday, August 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
