Obituary of Rex Willis CANNADY

April 17, 1928 – August 11, 2011 Rex Cannady beloved husband of Betty Cannady of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital after a short illness on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at the age of 83 years. Rex was born on April 17, 1928 to Edwin and Dorris (Kendall) Cannady. Rex spent his childhood at Barnwell, Alberta, moving to a family farm at Picture Butte, Alberta at the age of fourteen. Rex spent forty-two years in the construction industry, a career that he loved, first working for Oland Construction of Lethbridge, then Poole and PCL Construction of Calgary. Rex retired in 1990, since then he has built many pieces of furniture for his children. He loved birds and for many years he raised canaries, this past few years he enjoyed the squirrels that visited our yard. Whenever he could and however he could, Rex would help almost anyone, he was a very kind an loving man, who enjoyed life to the fullest. Besides his devoted wife of sixty-two years, Betty (nee Russell), also mourning his loss are his six children, Verna (Reg Masuda), Douglas (Elena), Doris Mclaren, Joanne (Robert Casavant), Timothy and Robert; six grandchildren, Kevin, Levi and Dillon Mclaren, Stephanie Cannaday, Crystal and Bradley Saundry; three great-grandchildren, Kieran and Finn Sullivan and Mila Martinovic; as well as by two sisters Lila (David Taylor) and Alene (Fred Hoffarth). Rex was predeceased by his father in 1974; mother in 1933; step-mother in 1998; sister Vaneta; three brothers, Clare, Myron and Lynn; three half sisters, Marjorie, Jeanette and Marcia; and two half brothers Keith and Vaughan.
