Obituary of CALF ROBE

Stah si pis taa kii (Under owl woman) September 28, 1940 – August 9, 2011 It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a very special lady, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, Kathy Calf Robe of Siksika Nation. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing. She is survived by her children: Karen (Garry) Running Rabbit, Grant Bear Chief, Kim Bear Chief, Tracey (Denise) Calf Robe, Loreli (Herman) Yellow Old Woman, and Ben (Megan) Calf Robe; her loving dog Chocolate; her grandchildren: Ira (Jana), Toni, Kaylin, Shelby, Joel (Chelsey), Camille, Trina (Melvin), Krystal (Jody), Amber, Trevor, Todd, Delray, Noah, Benny, Rush; twenty-one great-grandchildren; numerous foster children; brothers: Ed (Marie) Calf Robe, Bruce (Wanda) Calf Robe, and sister Sharon Calf Robe; numerous nieces and nephews. Kathy was predeceased by her parents Ben and Myrtle Calf Robe; brothers and sisters: Clara, Paul, Doris, Wilfred, George and Larry; Companion Willie Red Crow; grandchildren: Dallas Jr. Running Rabbit, Melvin Old Woman Jr, Ian Montour; nieces: Roslyn, Shirley, and Janice; nephew Jerome. Kathy graduated High School in Saskatchewan then attended Red Deer College where she achieved her Office Management Degree. Kathy’s employment history include the Blackfoot Hospital, Siksika Welfare, Siksika Chief and Council, Siksika Employment and Training, retired in 2007. She was a prominent board member for the Siksika Treasury Deapartment and Elder Advisor for Siksika Storefront School. Throughout Kathy’s life she accomplished becoming a member of the Motokiiks (Buffalo Women’s Society), making her Cursillo in 1984, being a foster parent for many years where she received several awards, also a member of the Siksika Handgame Club and Elders Group, and avid bingo supporter in our community. The extended families include Calf, Crow Chief, Sitting Eagle, Black Kettle, Rabbit Carrier, Weasel Head, Bear Robe, Anderson, Weasel Moccasins, Wings, Rides At the Door, Across the Mountain. Thank you to STARS Air Ambulance, Dr. Viner, Dr. Hulme, Dr. Chaubey, Dr. Connors, Nurses: Josette, Maria, Jenn and Torie (Peter Lougheed ICU), staff at Strathmore Hospital and Siksika EMS. Wake Services will be held at Sister Celine Memorial Parish Hall (Siksika Nation, AB) on Monday, August 15, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Siksika Nation, AB) on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Little Washington Cemetery.
