Obituary of Carl George ADOMEIT

February 14, 1951 – August 7, 2011 Carl Adomeit beloved husband of Joanne and loving father to Jaclyn of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at the age of 60 years. Carl was born in Smithers, BC. He had a happy, active childhood, in a home filled with a deep passion for hockey. After high school, Carl moved to Jasper to work for CN Rail. It was during this time that he discovered that he could combine his love for sport and working with young people by becoming a teacher. He enrolled at the U of C and it is here that he met his best friend and life-long partner, Joanne. They shared a deep commitment to each other and to making a difference for kids. Carl worked for the Calgary Board of Education until his retirement and made a difference for many kids by committing many hours to extra curricular and inter-school sports. After retiring from the CBE, Carl pursued his other passions, travel, golf, bridge and construction. The relentless progression of his disease took his body, but could not dampen his spirit. He was deeply grateful to the staff in unit 82 and to everyone who phoned or visited during his last weeks in the Foothills Hospital. Carl is survived by his wife Joanne; daughter Jaclyn; mother Agnes; a brother Norman (Diana) Adomeit; four sisters, Trudy (Richard) Nibogie, Bernadette Doyle, Mary-Ann (Rich) Bennett, and Charlotte Adomeit; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father George and a brother Gordon.
