Obituary of JACK – Jennifer B.
Passed away on Friday, August 5, 2011 at the Sarcee Hospice. Born in Alkmaar, Netherlands, as a young person she survived the horrors of the Nazi occupation and became a nurse. Jennifer met Harry Jack, who went to Holland to serve in the last year of the war, and came to Canada as a young war bride. Two children soon followed. The family moved to Cambridge, MA.. where Harry finished his PhD. and later to Lexington, KY and Regina, SK. In Regina, Jennifer was instrumental in creating the Docent Program at the Norman McKenzie Art Gallery where she loved to promote the “Regina Five” and many other Saskatchewan artists. After their divorce Jennifer moved to Calgary and later southern California, where she worked in hotel management. Retiring back to Calgary, Jennifer was active at the Kerby Centre and in her special passion, the Chinook Country Historical Society. Left to mourn are her children, Marg Anderson and Richard (Nila) Jack of Regina, her grandchildren, Kirsten Anderson, Thomas and Arthur Jack, her family in Holland, brother, Dik (Lies) Booy and sister, Nel Wardenaar and their children and grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Monday, August 22, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to the Chinook Country Historical Society, Kerby Centre or Sarcee Hospice.
