Obituary of Lucien Henry FETAZ

May 15, 1922 – August 4, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lou Fetaz on August 4, 2011 at the age of 89 years. Lou was born in Castor, Alberta, son of Albert and Laura Fetaz. Lou lived on the family farm with siblings Juliette, Bernard and Armand. He then attended the University of Alberta, and graduated with a B. Sc. in Pharmacy in 1950, the same year he married (Barbara) Joyce Woodbridge in Edmonton, Alberta. As a pharmacist who was dedicated and passionate about his work, Lou operated several businesses in the communities of Edmonton, Boyle, Calgary, Red Deer, Leduc and Tofield, always with his wife and business partner Joyce at his side. He was a leader in his community, and a friend to many. Lou was an admirable and honorable man who loved to tell a joke, and always had a smile. Lou and Joyce enjoyed a retirement that included time spent in Arizona and British Columbia, then settled into the Edgemont Retirement Residence in Calgary in 1997. A special thank you to all the staff and residents at Edgemont for their care and friendship with Lou; he will be missed by many. Lou will be lovingly remembered by his son Wayne, daughter-in-law Jan, and his two grandsons Colin and Sean, in whom he took so much pride. Lou is also survived by his sister Juliette Cordel [Raymond], his brother Bernard, sister-in-law Colette Fetaz, and numerous nieces and nephews. Lou was predeceased by his father, Albert in 1975, his mother, Laura in 2004, his wife, Joyce in 1997, and his brother, Armand in 2006. The family extends their thanks to the staff of the Foothills Hospital [Calgary] Emergency and Unit 46. Their compassion and understanding is truly appreciated.
