Obituary of GRUMMETT – Doris Margie

November 29, 1921 – July 29, 2011 Doris Grummett of Calgary, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2011 at the age of 89 years. Doris was born in Bangor, SK, later moving to Regina and eventually to Calgary with her family when she was a teenager. Doris trained to be a hairdresser, operating her own shop. She married Frank in 1952 in Calgary, where they raised their three children. She was an active member of the Banff Trail Community Association until June, 2010. Doris was instrumental in starting the ceramic program for the blind, and volunteered in excess of twenty-five years with the CNIB. Her legacy of volunteerism continues to benefit the blind and the Banff Trail Community. Her family will always remember her laughter and affection. Doris is survived by daughter Marlene (Ken) Vivian; two sons, Ernie (Lauri) and Llyal (Barb); six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband Lou Thomas in 1949, her second husband Frank in 2002; two sisters, Reeva Holiday and Doreen Leicht. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 10:30a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
