Condolences
I am the son of her younger sister Connie (born 1934) and I live in Holland. Anneke was always my special aunt, living far away in Canada but she’s close to me because she has often written my I letter and I have met her in 1977 and 1984 when she visited Holland. I remember her sense of humor and real interest in how my life was goning on.
I few month before her passing away, I had I long and fine conversation on the telephone with her. I also telephoned her in the hospice. She was not able to speak much but we had contact. A few days I received the message of John that she passed away.
I wil miss her although she lived far away.
I photograph of Anneke with Connie and her mother from 1936 is still on my wall. I wil not remove it.
I wish John, Claudia and Friso al the best courage, after this great loss.

My deepest condolences on the passing of your Mother. I will always have fond memories of the warm hospitality and generosity in after school visits. Ginger cookies in the shape of windmills, a chewy treat called tie-tie, picking crab apples to make jelly, and putting up with Joh & I for the countless hours we would spend making dragons, “glow in the dark” finger nails and teeth from Mattel’s “gobbley-goop” will always come to mind.
To all the Halbertsma children–Extremely sorry to hear of your mum’s sickness and passing. She and I were good friends, not ever seeing enough of each other. I was away during the week of her passing and was going to visit her as soon as I returned. So very sorry (I guess one should never put off things till later). We had such good visits together and always lots and lots of laughs. Neither one of us would ever tell our age, but were very close to the same. I will miss your dear sweet Mother with her twinkling eyes and always happy. A beautiful person- so honoured to have had her as “my friend” Fondly June Merriman.
I am so sorry about the loss of your Mother and a great loss to Stanley Drive. I remember the cold Cordial she would serve us kids in the summer, stringing popcorn on the tree in December, the great Dutch baking and taking us to the Sound of Music and afterwards talking about her war experiences as a young girl. Of course not to forget the special washroom seat instructions for the boys. Your Mom was a important part of my life and will be fondly remembered.
Very sorry to hear of your Mother’s passing. She was a lovely lady with a great sense of humour and we very much enjoyed the time we spent with her.
I was saddened to hear of Anne Marie’s passing. I found her to be inspirational in many ways and she had great warmth and strength. Best regards, Susyn Wagner
Dear family,
My sincere condolences with the passing of your dear Mother. You will miss her a lot. Also my condolences to the rest of the family. I visited with her at her home and enjoyed the stories of the past. She was a regular visitor of the Calgary Civic Orchestra where we often have met. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with,
