January 17, 1930 – July 29, 2011 Jean Mikkelsen beloved wife of Jorgen N. Mikkelsen of Calgary, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2011 at the age of 81 years. Jean passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of her family from complications of a stroke. Besides her husband of 51 years, Jean is survived by one brother Donald of Edmonton, Alberta, her daughter Linda (Brian) Millions, son Kenneth, and special daughter Wendy and three grandchildren Spencer, Breanna, and Quintin Millions. Jean is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Jean gave tirelessly of herself in order to serve the people around her. She demonstrated that by caring for her extended family from the time she was very young to orchestrating a teen program to be a source and outlet for teens to gather and share experiences so they could grow into young adults. She volunteered many hours of her time fundraising for various charities namely the Heart and Stroke Foundation. She had an amazing sense of humour and wit and there was nothing better than a good joke. She had an infectious laugh that filled the room. She was an award winning cribbage player, loved to play bingo, and was a ferocious reader. She was very proud of her grandchildren and was a very generous and loving grandma. We will miss her greatly. Jean was predeceased by her parents William and Mae MacDonald and her twin brothers Alex and Angus.
