Obituary of BOALER – Colin Austin

June 19, 1921 – July 14, 2011 Colin Boaler of Calgary went to join his Heavenly Father and wife Edith on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the age of 90 years. He was the last surviving child of a homesteading family, Sarah and Arthur Boaler, of Carey, Manitoba, and the only one of his family to reach the ripe age of 90. Colin lived his life according to his duty to God, his country and his family. He was a gentle man and a gentleman and believed in the values of working hard, doing the job well and not spending every dollar you had in your hand. He gave generously to many charities all in the name of serving others. He served his country as a soldier in WWII, from 1939-1945, and was an avid protector of his country to the end, believing that all Canadians need to protect the rights, so many gave their lives to defend. After the war he returned to southern Manitoba, where he began farming and raising a family which he did with his ever present commitment to the task at hand. In 1976, Colin and Edith retired from farming to live in Winnipeg, moved to Leduc in 1983 and to Calgary in 1993 where he lived until his passing. Colin was predeceased by his beloved wife Edith, son Gordon May, and granddaughter Tammy May, his parents and eight brothers and sisters. He is survived by his children Ron Boaler (Manon Vincent), Jackie Flanders and Gerry Epp (Henry). Colin leaves ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren who strive to follow the values he lived his life by. His only surviving sister in law is Trudy Boaler of Calgary. His many nieces and nephews and his church family also mourn his passing. Memorial Service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church (290 Edgepark Blvd. N.W.) on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. You may forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
