Obituary of NIELSEN – Hazel Alice

August 28, 1921 – July 12, 2011 Hazel Alice Nielsen of Calgary, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2011 at the age of 89 years. Hazel was a loving mother and grandmother. She graced us with love, friendship and kindness and will be dearly missed. Hazel enjoyed her retirement years after working at the City of Calgary where she worked as a Social Worker and cook. Hazel received an award of excellence from the City of Calgary for outstanding service, which was presented to her by the mayor of Calgary, Ralph Klein. She loved to crotchet. If she was not crocheting she would be found in the kitchen baking. Hazel is survived by five children, eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Hazel was predeceased by her husband Oscar, her daughter Ingrid and her grandson Stephen. Family members are invited to attend a celebration of Hazel’s life to be held at the Sheraton Cavalier in Henry’s Pub located at 2620 32nd Avenue N.E., Calgary, on Thursday, July 21, 2011 from 1-3 PM (No Minors).
