Condolences
Noel,
My heartfelt condolances to you and your family on the loss of your Dad.
My special memory of him was when I was renovating 2201 Hope Street. He came up the driveway and wanted to see what was happening to his old homestead. I gave him a tour and he shared wonderful stories about being born and growing up in the house, how the neighbors had winter covered (the Snow family, the Freise(Freeze) family, and of course the Winters), as well as his memories of a beautiful, manicured lawn managed by the gardener from the Golf and Country Club! A few weeks later, he arrived with fabulous old photos of the house covering four decades — from the time it was built until his father passed away. I showed everyone that visited those wonderful photos and when I moved down the street, I passed them along for the new owners to appreciate a special bit of Mt. Royal history.
Your Dad frequently checked in with me after our intial introduction — I always enjoyed and valued his stories of times gone by. His passing marks the end of an era.
Dear Winter Families:
We knew Larry through business and He was always fair and kind. We send you our deepest sympathy and prayers at this very sad time for you all. God Rest His Soul.
My sincere condolences on Larry’s passing. He must have had a premonition as I was so fortunate to hear from him recently. I will always remember our wonderful tight-knit group of friend in Altadore – 38th Avenue SW. Larry was always there to help and supervise sidewalks, garages etc. What a big heart and a true friend. He will be sorely missed by all your friends and former neighbours.

I think Larry was the only one who ever called me gorgeous(maybe because he couldn’t remember my name, but it worked for me :) ( ie Sam, not Jer). I was always grateful. We won’t miss him like Gail will, but the passing of the old guard at the lake is sad and makes us realize how quickly time passes. Hope good memories see you through when you’re missing him.
Our sympathies to all the generations of Winters.
In friendship,
Sam and Jerry McAndrews
Noel, I am saddened to read of your father’s passing. The relationship between a father and son is enduring and something you will always have and remember in the years to come. My thoughts are especially with you and Mary Anne and the girls. I will offer up a little prayer for your family.
Dave
