Obituary of IAFOLLA – Ottavio Paolino

March 5,1920 – June 27, 2011 Iafolla Ottavio was born in Villalago (l’Aquila) Italy on March 5, 1920 from Iafolla Domenico (1886) and Anna Gatta (1889). After apprenticing as a woodjoiner in his youth, Ottavio fought in WWII. After the war, he worked as a labourer in the construction industry and did odd jobs in wood working. In 1970, Ottavio moved to Calgary where he worked in light assembly (Alsco & Carlton, Revelstoke and Lenny Sign Co.). He retired in 1986 at the age of 66 years, and enjoyed a long and quiet retirement. Ottavio was predeceased by his father in 1969, his mother in 1982, and sisters: Olivia Galante (1974), Velia Grossi (1995), and Lella Iafolla (2007). Stomach problems with ensuing debilitating effects eventually blew out his life’s candle. Ottavio is survived by his loving wife Antonietta, son Paul. Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Monday, July 4, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery .
