Obituary of ERICSON – Carol

March 6, 1933 – June 14, 2011 With love and sadness our family announces that our beloved mother, Carol Jane Ericson passed away quietly on Tuesday, 14 June 2011. Carol was born in Newark, New Jersey on 6 March 1933, then raised and educated in Chicago, Illinois. She and David made Calgary their home in 1969. She enjoyed her many years with colleagues at the Calgary Board of Education and will be particularly remembered for her contribution to physical education. The ‘Carol Ericson Trophy’, is awarded annually for women’s outstanding performance in field hockey. She also dearly loved music and singing with the choir at Christ Moravian Church. Carol is survived by her children and their families, David, Mary and Charlotte Ericson of West Sussex, England; Penelope Ericson and Simon Hawkins of Hampshire, England; and Karl, Betsy, Marissa and Carter Ericson of Indianapolis, Indiana. She is also survived by her brother, Donald (Patty) Carter, Doris (Robert) Rowe, Ann (Clayton) Johnston and Jo Ann (Tenny) Stannard. Carol was predeceased by her loving husband David. A memorial celebration will be held at Christ Moravian Church (600 Acadia Drive S.E.) on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
