Obituary of HANCHAR – Mike

February 2, 1923 – June 11, 2011 Mike Hanchar beloved husband of Olga of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the age of 88 years. Mike was born in Edmonton, but spent most of his life in Rorketon, Manitoba. He worked in and later inherited his father’s general store. Mike enjoyed sports, TV, gardening, ceramics, painting, art classes and snow shovelling. He was blessed with very good health until he was diagnosed with stomach cancer last June. Besides his loving wife Olga, Mike is survived by his daughter Valerie Gunthorpe (Gary) of Calgary; son Orest Hanchar of Richmond, BC; daughter Diane Butters of Calgary; and grandchildren, Jason, Marcie, Ria, Logan and Vincent. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Roy Butters in 2006. A private family service will be held. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
