Obituary of DODGINGHORSE – Katie
April 23, 1912 – June 5, 2011
Katie Dodginghorse passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family at the age of 99 years.
She dedicated her life to the Lord and her family. Growing up, her family were instrumental in the ranching community and is considered the matriarch of Tsuu T’ina Nation. She had a passion for bead work which is seen all over the world. Up until she was 91, she continued to make teepee’s, moccasin’s and full beaded traditional outfits.
Katie is survived by her brothers Harold Crowchild and Russel Big Crow as well as daughter-in-laws Jean Dodginghorse and, Karen Dodginghorse and grandchildren , Marvin(Marie) Dodginghorse and children, Billy (Candace) Dodginghorse and children, Delphine (Gary) Righthand and children, Tracey Dodginghorse and children, Val Dodginghorse and children, Jamie (Keith) Lefthand and children whom she raised, and great granddaughter Marla (Wayne) Sugai. Katie is survived by twenty one grandchildren, sixty six great grandchildren, sixty three great great grandchildren and one great great great grandchild on the way. Katie was predeceased by her husband Jim, daughter Irene, sons, Richard, Harry, Dolphus, Ronald, Gary, also her brother Issac Crowchild and numerous grandchildren.
She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, adopted family members from all over, too many to mention.
Wake Services will be held at the residence of Katie Dodginghorse, Tsuu T’ina Nation A.B. on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 6:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at Seven Chiefs Sportsplex Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Tsuu T’ina Cemetery. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Special Thank-you to the Tsuu T’ina health center and Staff.
