Obituary of McNAB – Edith Irene
August 30, 1918 – June 4, 2011
Edith Irene McNab passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at the age of 92 years.
Edith is survived by children, Annie Smith, Linda (Ron) Fritz, Lorne (Janet) McNab), all of Red Deer Lake, AB, Jim (Marion) McNab of Okotoks, Stastia Risdahl and Bernie Noetzel of Calgary; nine grandchildren, Lori, Alan, Stastia Lynn, Donovan, Colin, Paul, Heather, Todd and Linay; ten great-grandchildren, Garet, Marshall, Mitchell, Kalista, Jenyce, Wilson, Colton, Tyler, Justin and Carson. She is also survived by daughter-in-law Mary McNab of Lethbridge, two brothers, fours sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. Edith was predeceased by her husband George in 1997, son Alan in 1993, grandson Richard in 1997, son-in-law Jim Smith and two sisters, Annie and Ruby.
Edith was born at home in the Porcupine Hills of Alberta and spent her childhood years in the rural community around Calgary. Following her marriage to George in 1936, she spent her life on the farm in the Ballyhamage/Red Deer Lake area. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be missed by all. Her life was devoted to her family.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.E.) on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Bob Glasgow, Chaplain of the Rockyview General Hospital, officiating. Interment to follow at Pine Creek Cemetery.
