Condolences
Dear June & Family: I have left a condolence message with the Calgary Herald but will leave one here as well. So sorry to hear of John’s passing from Lorne Helland. My mother had so many happy times with John & the Skraskins hiking group. I know she will be with you in spirit today & looking forward to seeing John once again. I have kept John’s poem of my mother with me always. May your good memories keep you going.
With love,
Heather (Hamilton) Brenneman & Family

Dear June and John’s family,
I was saddened to read of the loss of John. I fell in love with model ships when a friend of mine built one and I was moving along with it when unfortunately, he died. Being a total novice at shipbuilding, I was completely stuck until i saw John’s wonderful model at the stampede. He oh-so-kindly agreed to help me out. I really enjoyed the time spent with him. He was a wonderful, patient teacher and mentor. The most important thing he taught me was to figure things out myself, that there was no “right way” to do things. That lesson has carried over to many things in my life beyond shipbuilding. I am truly grateful for his gentle guidance. He was a lovely and true gentleman.
June, thanks for lending him to me for those hours. I know that it was a bit of a risk for both of you welcoming a stranger into your home. Once again, I am so sorry to hear of his passing and wish all of you my condolences. Deb Vermunt
