Obituary of CAMPBELL – Timothy Charles
February 8, 1955 – May 29, 2011
Tim passed away peacefully in the early morning, surrounded by family on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at the Foothills Country Hospice in Okotoks, AB.
He was born in London, England and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1960. Tim grew up in the Peace River region of Northern Alberta, largely in Fairview, AB. He graduated from the University of Calgary with B.F.A. and M.F.A. degrees. A visual artist and musician, Tim spent most of his professional life working in the film and television industry in Calgary.
He is lovingly remembered by all the family, including his wife, Willa, children, Gerard and Courtney, sister-in-law, Bo Morrisette, sister, Mary (Menno), brothers John (Loraine), Patrick (Carol), Peter (Anne), Andrew and many nieces and nephews. In the U.K., Cousin Elizabeth (Tim), Aunt Pauline Waters (Tom), and Aunt Betty Bartholomew. Tim was predeceased by his parents, Patricia and Gerry. A Heartfelt thanks goes out to the staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, the Rockyview Hospital, the Foothills Country Hospice and IATSE Local 212. Also a special mention to the Palliative Care team who assisted us so much during these past few months.
There will be a celebration of Tim’s life at the Leighton Art Centre on Thursday, June 30, from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. It will be a time of silent reflection, as per Tim’s request. Those attending can choose to meditate, pray or sit in silence. There will be a small selection of photos reflective of Tim’s life on display. The art gallery and grounds will be open during this time, should anyone wish to walk around and enjoy the artwork and the natural beauty of this unique place. The Leighton Art Centre is a beautiful, inspiring place and in particular, Tim deeply appreciated how they support and nourish children’s artistic expression through the art and nature classes they offer. The Centre is located fifteen kilometres southwest of Calgary, in the Priddis area. For driving directions, go to www.leightoncentre.org/ it is recommended to calculate additional time for the drive, as the secondary country roads do take time to navigate, and also to keep a sharp eye out for signage.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tim’s name to the Leighton Art Centre; Children’s Art and Nature Programs, Box 9, Site 31, RR #8, Calgary, AB T2J 2T9. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
