Obituary of GEHLEN – Lana Tracey

November 23, 1968 – May 27, 2011 Lana Tracey Gehlen, beloved wife of Darrin Gehlen of Airdrie, passed away Friday the 27th, at the age of 42 losing her short but brave battle with leukemia. Lana was born Nov. 23, 1968 to the late Harley Woode and is survived by her mother Cecile Woode in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Lana met Darrin in Moose Jaw in 1984 and they married May 23, 1992 and is survived by her husband Darrin Gehlen their two daughters Mariah and Mikayla of Airdrie. Brother: Kevin Woode (JoAnna) Sisters: Tammy Timoruski (Terry); and (Wendy and Beverley predeceased) and many Aunts, Uncles nieces and nephews. Lana graduated from Vanier Collegiate in 1986 in Moose Jaw and went on to obtain a marketing diploma from the Saskatchewan Tech Institute (S.T.I.) Moose Jaw, after which she began her career as an Operations Officer with a major bank. With the bank, Lana was able to experience life in various cities and communities as the many opportunities for advancement came with relocation which she found challenging and wholly enjoyed. Lana eventually relocated to Calgary and with more than 10 years in the bank while on maternity leave Lana opened her heart and home to a friend’s young child and thus began a new chapter and direction in her life. Lana operated a day home for the next 10 years during which the family relocated to Airdrie. After obtaining her realtors license she and her husband started a property management company. Never one to slow down she further enhanced her credentials by obtaining her Brokers license in a record 6 weeks with a clear vision to the future Lana adopted the business motto “Not driven to create wealth but driven to create success” and she did so with excellence, high moral and spiritual ethics and standards. Lana was diagnosed with leukemia February, 2 2011. Lana’s family would like to thank the entire staff of the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary for their excellent care.
