Obituary of WONG – Lonnie Gordon

June 23, 1955 – May 24, 2011 Lonnie passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 to be with the Lord after battling cancer. Born in Hanna, AB, Lonnie graduated from the University of Alberta and finally settled in Calgary where he met and married the love of his life, Jennie, on May 7, 1983. He committed his life to Jesus Christ on April 21, 1982, was baptized that year, worshipped at South Gate Alliance, and cherished his Nicaragua and Garden River short term mission trips. Lonnie enjoyed badminton, golfing, skiing, hockey and cheering for the Montreal Canadiens. He will be dearly missed by his wife Jennie; sons Matthew and Michael; mother Grace; stepfather Jackey Chong; and siblings Ray (Lily) and Debbie (Scott). Lonnie was predeceased by his father Leonard. He will always be remembered for his love for God, servant heart and his spirit of gentleness, humility and integrity. Funeral Services will be held at Southview Alliance Church (1436 James McKevitt Road S.W.) on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Private Family Graveside Service will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
