Audrey Payce, beloved wife of the late Frank Payce of Calgary, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2011 at the age of 82 years.
Audrey was born on September 18, 1928 on the family farm outside of Morse, SK to Harry and Adella Saigeon. Audrey attended Crocus Hill School in Morse and subsequently moved to Calgary to attend business school. In 1949 she met Frank Payce of Youngstown, AB and they were married in 1950. Frank was in the oil business for over forty years. The family lived in Edmonton, Weyburn, Estevan, Drayton Valley, Fort St. John and Calgary. Along the way, they provided an excellent upbringing and life experience for their children. They made many close and enduring friendships.
Audrey and Frank retired in 1990 and moved to Kelowna, where they built a beautiful retirement home. They lived there for fourteen years enjoying gardening, travel, and entertaining family and friends. In 2004 they moved back to Calgary to be with family. Audrey was a wonderful and loving companion to Frank and a superlative mother to her children. She was the consummate homemaker and mother and taught her children to be compassionate and intelligent citizens. Audrey was the best cook in the world. She grew flowers and excelled at arranging them. Her wit and creativity rubbed off on her family and others around her. The family went on many camping and fishing excursions. Along with Frank, she was involved in Oil Wives and the Lady Lions. They travelled extensively in their retirement years and enjoyed life to the fullest. Audrey was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and her love of family and community greatly influenced everyone around her. She will be sadly missed by all of whom she touched.
