Obituary of MILLER – Ronald Douglas

August 16, 1930 – May 22, 2011 Ronald Miller, beloved husband of Elna Miller of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the age of 80 years. Ron was born in Montreal where he met and married Elna, his wife of fifty-one years. In 1977 the family moved to Calgary where Ron embraced the western lifestyle. One of his favourite times of year was Stampede. He loved the Chuckwagon races and taking in all the activities on Stephen Avenue Mall and Olympic Plaza. Sports were a big part of his life and he enjoyed cheering on the Flames, the Stamps and the Yankees, but nothing made him prouder than watching his grandchildren excel in their various sports and activities. Before settling down, Ron spent five years with the Royal Canadian Navy aboard the HMS Magnificent. He continued his devotion to all things Naval by volunteering at The Naval Museum until his health failed. Ron also loved to spend summers with family on Lake Okanagan. Mourning his loss with Elna are their four children; Scott Miller (Anita), Diane Ferguson (John), Lori McLellan (Byron) and Glen Miller (Veronica) as well as his beloved grandchildren Jason, Mitchell, Christina, Connor, Madeline, Jacob and Abigail. Also remembering Ron are Tanis and Taylor Ferguson. He was predeceased by his brothers Bill Bray and Vic Paquette.
