Obituary of POPOWICH – Sam

March 1, 1937 – May 20, 2011 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sam Popowich on Friday, May 20, 2011 at the age of 74 years. Sam worked for the TD Bank for thirty-seven years before retiring to pursue his passion of golf. He was very involved with the TD Retirees Association and organized their annual Black Bull Golf Tournament for thirteen years without rain. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Irma Dobson; his daughters, Cheryl Popowich (Dave Pettersen) and Lois (Dirk) Labahn; grandchildren Noah, Kate, Luke, Sarah, and Joel; sister Kathy (Bob) Melnyk; brother Al (Jean); and many relatives and friends. Sam was predeceased by his wife Margaret; parents George and Jenny Popowich; sister Marion Malinowski; and a twin sister who died in infancy. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church (2424 – 24th Avenue N.W., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church (210 Haddow Close, Edmonton, Alberta) on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. You may forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
