Obituary of NELSON – Edna Beatrice
December 11, 1914 – May 19, 2011
Edna Beatrice Nelson of Calgary passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the age of 96 years.
Edna was born in Moosehorn, Manitoba on December 11, 1914. She trained as a Psychiatric Nurse in Ponoka, Alberta. She was a phenomenal volunteer, particularly assisting seniors. Edna volunteered at the George Boyack Centre, Lodge 1100, and Bow Valley Care Centre for over twenty years, and loved the friends she made there. Dancing was a big part of her life, and winning gold medals at the Alberta Seniors’ games was a highlight. Edna had a very full life with much travel, laughter and love.
She is lovingly survived by her son Stan (Irene Riediger); daughter Donna (Jack Barnett); son Richard (Frances); six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Edna was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Gathering in honour of Edna’s Life at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
