Obituary of BEARSHIRT – Ronald Sergeant
February 3, 1939 – May 14, 2011
Ronald “Sergeant” Bearshirt of Siksika passed away peacefully in Calgary on Saturday May 14, 2010 at the age of 72 years. He was known for being a very kind and humble man who loved helping people.
Ronald is survived by his siblings Elizabeth, Roger (Patty), Bernard, Ken (Gloria); a son and granddaughter; aunts Rose Alma Many Shots, and Gertrude Turning Robe; numerous nephews and nieces; and the Many Shots, Crow Chief, Sun Walk, Yellow Sun, Good Eagle, Wolf Child, Big Tobacco, Breaker, Many Guns, Axe, Black Horse, Sitting Eagle, Little Chief, and Crowfoot families.
He was predeceased by his common-law wife Lilly Leather; parents Helena and James Bearshirt; grandparents Peter and Mita White Pup, and Tom and Emily Many Shots; uncles George Many Shots, Henry Sun Walk, and great uncle Ed Wolf Child Sr.; and many other cherished relatives and friends.
Wake Services will be held at the Sister Celine Memorial Parish Hall (Siksika Nation) on Thursday May 19, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Siksika Nation) on Friday May 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Services to follow Chief Crowfoot Cemetery.
In living memory of Ronald Bearshirt, a tree will be planted at Siksika Nation by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Eastside Memorial Chapel.
