Obituary of GIBBARD – Nanna Jean
December 4, 1933 – May 11, 2011
Jean passed away at her home in Calgary, Alberta. Jean was born and raised in Detroit and graduated from Western High School. She went on to graduate with a bookkeeping degree from Detroit Business Institute. She spent over twenty years in Central America working as a missionary before relocating to Calgary in 1979.
She was one of two children born to the late Paul and Helen Emery. Jean will forever be remembered by her beloved husband of fifty-two years, Robert Gibbard; devoted brother Fred Emery; cherished children, Paul, Noreen, Judith and Nathan; caring in-laws Debbie, Randy, Glen and Karina; treasured grandchildren, Robyn, Piaf and Christopher; along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her.
Jean touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity of spirit, her empathy and sense of humour. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at Harvest Hill Alliance Church (10099 Harvest Hills Blvd. NW) on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. By her request, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mustard Seed, 102-11 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB T2G 0X5 or Calgary Humane Society, 4455-110th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB T2C 2T7.
