Obituary of John Malcolm McINTOSH

March 30, 1932 – May 8, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of John Malcolm (“Mickey”) McIntosh on Sunday morning, May 8, 2011. Known to all as “Mickey”, he is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-one years, Karen, his three sons, Michael (Lisa), James (Lynn) and Glen, his grandchildren, Katy, Steven, Sam, Jennifer and Meagan, his brothers, Jimmy and Glen, and his sisters, Lillian and Pat. Mickey was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary, his parents-in-law, John and Esther Jorgensen, and by his granddaughter, Lindsey. The centre of Mickey’s life always was family and his greatest joys in life always came from family. Mickey grew up in Wilkie, Saskatchewan and moved to Calgary in 1948, when his father transferred to Calgary with the CPR. After finishing school, he began a career with Home Oil that lasted some forty years, finishing as the General Manager of Purchasing. Mickey truly loved his career with Home Oil and many of his colleagues from work were, and are, some of his closest friends. In retirement, Mickey was able to spend more time on one of his lifelong passions, golf, and he had great times with his many friends at Canyon Meadows Golf & Country Club. Mickey was a gentleman and a gentle man, whose wisdom, strength, integrity and warmth won him many friends and made him so special to all of us. Mickey had a twinkle in his eyes that we will all miss.
