Obituary of COTTON- Signe Ethel
March 24, 1914 – May 7, 2011
Signe Cotton peacefully went to be with Jesus with her daughter at her side on May 7th, 2011 at the age of ninety seven years at the Beverly Centre, Calgary, Alberta.
She was born to God fearing Norwegian parents, Olav and Helga Pederson on March 24, l914. She was seventh of sixteen children, having nine brothers and three sisters who lived to be adults.
She was predeceased by her parents, her first husband Jerome York, an infant son Robert Dale, eight brothers – Melvin, Arnold, Oscar, Einar, George, Ervin, Elvin, and Lucas Pederson, three sisters – Hilda Cotton, Freda Frericks, Aldis Gibson and her second husand, William Cotton.
Signe was an elegant, caring lady who loved music, journaling, gardening and her family. She will be missed by her daughter Doris (Allan) Sorensen, granddaughter Karen (Sheldon) Schmidt, grandsons Darryl (Lynelle) and Greg (Val) Sorensen, eight great grandchildren, Hannah, Matthew, Andrew, Abby, Koover, Kyle, Katelynn and Megan, three stepdaughters Doreen (Merlin) Johnson, Donna (Herb) Rinehart, Margaret (Ray) Lewis, one stepson Wayne (Brenda) Cotton, several step grandchildren, nephews and nieces and one brother Victor.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Killam Baptist Church (Killam, AB) on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place at the Killam Cemetery.
