Obituary of RATKE – Herdwick Henry

January 25, 1925 – April 26, 2011 Herdwick Henry (Red) Ratke passed away April 26, 2011. He was born in 1925 in Leduc, AB to Therese and Henry Ratke. He left the family farm in 1948 to work in the Devon Oilfield (Atlantic #3) thus beginning an adventurous career in the oilfields of Alberta, BC, the Arctic Islands, southern U.S.A and western Australia, finally establishing his own consulting firm. When retired, he enjoyed travelling and the company of his wife of 61 years, Hedwig (Hattie) Ratke who predeceased him on March 27, 2011. He leaves behind his son, Keith Ratke, daughter Sharon (Ted) Kuipers; sisters Alice Saar, Elsie Saar and Doreen Mahaffey and many nephews and nieces.
