Obituary of CAMPBELL – Lorraine Elvira

September 29, 1931 – April 25, 2011 Lorraine Elvira Campbell, beloved wife of Kenneth Wylie Campbell, passed away at Agape Hospice on Monday, April 25, 2011, at the age of 79. Lorraine was born in Regina and grew up on a dairy farm near Balgonie, Saskatchewan. In those early years, six young girls formed a special friendship, which they have maintained for over 70 years and are endearingly referred to as the “Ya Ya Girls.” Lorraine met Ken in 1956 and married on May 4, 1957. They moved to Calgary six months later, and have resided in the area most of those years with the exception of the two years they spent in Australia in the early 80’s. Lorraine exhibited the Holy Spirit’s gift of hospitality and anchored the lives of her family with the strength and stability of her Christian faith. She served our Lord through many roles in her church congregations, Bethany Hospital Auxiliary, and Christian Women’s Club. She was involved in the activities of her children as well as the Women’s Institute. Many of the friendships cultivated then remain today. Lorraine touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with by her warm and down-to-earth Christian witness and stood as a living example of a Christian woman. She is lovingly remembered and we wait in the anticipation of God’s grand reunion on the day of resurrection. Besides her loving husband Ken, she is survived by four children and their spouses, James (Cleopatra), Jeffrey (Janet), Karen (Donovan), and Lisa (Douglas). She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, her brother Alvin (Stephanie) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral Services will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and School (16th Avenue N.E. and Garden Road) at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday April 30th, 2011. A reception will follow the service. The family would like to thank the nursing staff on Unit 102 at Foothills Hospital, Unit 47 at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, the Agape Hospice, and Gina and Lisa from AHS Rural Home Care. We would especially like to thank Dr. Martin LaBrie for his care, concern, and compassion.
