Obituary of Medicine Shield – Francine Marie

KIPITAISKII (Old Face Woman) 1961 – 2011 Our Creator took our mother, grandmother, and sister home on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the age of 49 years. Francine was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and raised on Siksika Nation, AB. She leaves behind her special companion Jack Rowe, her children; Donnell (Dallas), Shawna-Lee, Richard, Elijah, Zachary Medicine Shield and adopted son Weymen McMaster, and all her precious grandchildren; brothers, James Many Bears (Crystal), Morris Many Bears (Charlene) and Shaun Pelletier; sisters Georgette Medicine Shield (Eldrid), Alanna Many Bears, Krista White (Tyler), Sheila Pelletier, Twila (Denis) Watcheston and Melodie (Adam) Willems; mother-in-law Mable Rowe; brother in laws Cash and Marvin Rowe; aunts, Verona Old Woman (Wayne), Mary-Ann Wells, Annie Running Rabbit, Vera Big Plume, Teri Delorme and Sally (Jim) Johnston; uncles Steven Red Old Man and Clifford Big Eye ; numerous nieces, nephews, great nephew, many relatives and friends from the Treaty 7 and other First Nation communities. Francine was predeceased by her parents, Roderick Pelletier, Frances and Aloysius Many Bears; her precious twin babies John and Joseph; brothers, Warren Cooper Many Bears and Rod Pelletier JR; grandparents, Frank and Mary Medicine Shield, and Marie and Napoleon Pelletier. Francine enjoyed baseball and was an avid pool player. She also enjoyed beading jewelry and had a special hobby collecting pins. She will always be remembered for her skills, talent, sense of humor, courage, strong will and she was very protective of her family. Wake Services will be held at Sister Celine Memorial Parish Hall Siksika Nation, AB on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at HOLY TRINITY CATHOLIC CHURCH (Siksika Nation, AB) on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow Crowfoot Cemetery (Siksika Nation, AB).
