Obituary of RICHARDSON – Rita
October 30, 1921– April 10, 2011
Rita of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the age of 89 years.
Rita met her husband Pat in Rita’s hometown of Ottawa where Pat served in the RCAF. They married in 1944, eventually making their way west to Calgary (Pat’s Hometown) after various CIBC postings along the way. After staying home to raise their daughters, Rita took a part-time job at St. James Catholic Church as church secretary. She remained in this “temporary” job for eighteen years.
Rita is survived by her daughter Mary and sons-in-law George Nichols and Donald Battrum; two grandchildren Tracy Nichols and Brad Nichols and Nicholle Nichols and two great-granddaughters Brady and Marley. She is also survived by her sister Dolly Malone and brother Bud (Louise) Wood both of Ottawa.
Rita was pre-deceased by husband Pat in 1984 and daughter Patricia “Tish” in 2009 and seven brothers and sisters Ray, Bert, Pearl, Winnie, Theresa, Patsy and Eileen
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church, 5504 – 20 Street S.W. on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
