Obituary of STAPPLER – Magdalena
September 29, 1919 – April 10, 2011
Magdalena Stappler of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the age of 91years.
Born September 29, 1919 in Medicine Hat, AB, Magdalena went to school in the Granlea district of southeast Alberta. She farmed with her husband in the Bow Island area for thirty-six years. She retired to Medicine Hat in 1976 then moved to Calgary in 2000 to be closer to her family. Magdalena was a devout Catholic and a member of the Catholic women’s league for over fifty years. She enjoyed interacting with the people at Anthonian Court especially the Tuesday card playing group.
Magdalena will be dearly missed by her daughters, Mag Stappler and Josephine (John) Stanton; and son Andrew (Lynne) Stappler. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Bradley Assen, Treaver (Frances) Trudel, Craig Stappler, Curtis (Ashley) Stappler, Adrienne (Tony) Gigantelli, and Jocelyn (David) Stanton; and nine great grandchildren, Dylan, Ryan, Tori, Nathan, Tesla, Grace, Charlotte, Sophie, and Giada.
Magdalena was predeceased by her husband Ralph Stappler in 1976; and daughter Marion Trudel in 2009.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church (5340 – 4th Street S.W.) on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Medicine Hat, AB on Saturday April 16, 2011 at 1:00 pm.
