Obituary of FAUGHT – Robert Basil

July 20, 1958– April 9, 2011 It was with human sadness but spiritual contentment that Bob Faught died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 9, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Marguerite (nee Lessard) and proud father of Ryan and Shannon Faught. Born in Sarnia Ontario, where he grew up with his two brothers and four sisters, he went on to graduate with a double degree in geology and computer science from Queens University. He started his long rewarding career at Shell Canada in Calgary and moved into information systems and project management consulting for a number of firms in the Calgary oil and gas sector. Family and Bob’s legion of friends will always remember his capacity for love, and passion for a purpose driven life and living every moment to the fullest. His home was always open to friends old and new. His curiosity and genuine interest in the lives of others and the world around him manifested throughout all his activities and relationships. Always a larger than life personality, April 1st was his favourite day on the calendar. His great love for the outdoors and the mountains was evident by the sparkle in his eyes when anyone mentioned the Rockies. He made the mountains his four season home, spending plenty of time camping, fly fishing, skiing, snow shoeing, hiking and biking. Bob also loved his gardening time as much as he loved leaning over the fence talking to the neighbours and building lasting friendships. He always had a positive outlook in life, especially during his battle with cancer. The smile on his face was always there, no matter what life event he was involved with, be it a 300 km cycle tour in the mountains or hosting the neighbourhood BBQ or street pancake breakfast. Bob was active in the community as an Olympic volunteer at the Canmore Nordic Centre and even as a major motion picture star as an extra running down the street in Calgary for the movie Superman. Bob’s strong faith and service with the Knights of Columbus sustained his wonderful life. Bob will be missed by his mother, Rita Agnes Faught (Sarnia, ON) his siblings George and Diane Faught (Toronto, ON), Luanne and Jim Stiel (Lake Orion, Michigan), Carolyn and Wayne Borland (Ilderton, ON) Mary Faught,(Chelsea, PQ) Jim Faught (Toronto, ON), Lynne Kelly (Moncton, NB.) He will be lovingly remembered by Marguerite’s mother Louise Lessard (St. Albert), Jeannette and Vic Poulin (Legal, AB), Rene Lessard (Bonneville, AB) , Martha and Brian Anderson (Edmonton), Robert and Heather Lessard (Edmonton), and the numerous nephews and nieces from both families. He was predeceased by his dad, William Alfred Basil Faught and Arthur Lessard.
