Obituary of BLASETTI – Ernestina Esterina

November 7, 1927 – April 7, 2011 It is with deep sadness that the family of Ernestina “Esterina” Blasetti announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and friend, on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the Foothills Medical Centre at age of 83 years, after a brief illness. Mom was born to Carmine and Assunta Grimaldi in Mangone, Cosenza, Italy, the fourth of ten children. Mom came to Canada in 1954 to marry our father Giuseppe Blasetti. She had many friends that she kept in touch with her entire life. Mom was a beacon of hope, courageousness and had an infectious smile. She had tremendous empathy for others and animals, especially her little cat, Sage. Mom loved her family and nothing gave her greater joy than cooking fabulous meals. Mom was predeceased by Dad in 1999; and brothers, Tomasso, Franchino and Vincenzo Grimaldi. Mom is survived by her children, Lilia, Gianna (Jim) and Frank (Barb); two grandsons, Carlo and Paul; two sisters, Theresina and Candida; and brother Nardo. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
