Obituary of ELLINGSEN – Jorgine Johanna

December 10, 1922 to March 31, 2011 Sadly, but in a way with gladness, we wish to announce the passing of Jorgine, our much loved mother and grandmother and beloved wife of Emil. Jorgine was born at a homestead near Cereal, AB but soon moved with her parents Lars and Hilda Salte and her brothers Norman, Joel, Lynden, and Edward (all with Jesus in heaven) to Torquay, SK where the whole family worked hard to build up the family farm. Jorgine graduated as a registered nurse in 1945 in Moose Jaw, SK and continued her education at the University of Manitoba from which she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Her love of nursing and caring for others led her to teaching and mentorship for hundreds of nursing students. Her nursing and teaching career took her to LCBI in Outlook, SK, to Dawson Creek, BC and to Edmonton, AB. Her faith in and love for her children, Lavonne, Doug, John, and Sharon, and her seven grandchildren, and the love given back to her in return, was only equalled by her love and faith in God from whom her strength came and in whom her shelter was. She will be remembered for her interest in others and her love of life. She enjoyed quilting and sewing, gardening, making friends, and documenting our family history. Her strong spirit, optimism, and beautiful smile will be much missed in our lives. A Celebration of Jorgine’s life will be held at First Lutheran Church, (7102 14th Ave S.W.) on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 1:00 pm. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
