Obituary of BIG PLUME – Dora Mary

July 7, 1925 – March 29, 2011 It is with deep sorrow that the families of Dora Big Plume announce her passing on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the age of 85 years. Dora was a kind, humble, loving lady. She enjoyed spending time with her children, taking an active part in their lives, she supported her children and grandchildren in various sports, always asking how they did and displaying their medals and pictures as she was so proud of them all. She treated everyone equally and with great kindness. She was fluent in Tsuu T’ina language and was proud of her culture. She helped raise a number of her grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her strength and her unconditional love. She was her children and grandchildren’s biggest supporter. Dora leaves behind her children Gloria (Bill) Littlelight, Frank (Heather) Littlelight, Josephine (Mike) Cutknife, Betty (Jimmy) Roasting, Beverly (Leeroy) Meguinis, Sonny (Tamara) Lusty and Kimberly (Peter) Lusty; daughter-in-laws Francis Littlelight, Theresa Big Plume; son-in-laws Gilbert Crowchild, James Buffalo and Gerald Bearchief. She is also survived by thirty eight grandchildren, fifty eight great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren, many relatives such as Bulls, Jacobs, Cranes, Labelles, Littlelights, Potts, Moonias, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins as well. Dora was predeceased by her husband Joseph Big Plume; parents Alex and Winnie Bull; brothers Donald Bull and Cecil Lee; sisters Elsie Jacobs and Florence Crane; sons Fred, Bedford and Ross; daughters Lena and Judy; grandsons Jordie Buffalo; great grandsons Chance and Elijah Littlelight and great grandaughter Vida Crowchild. Wake Services will be held at Dora’s residence, Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Tsuu T’ina Cemetery.
